Dr. Chen received his A.B. and A.M. in chemistry from Harvard University in 2001. After two years as a medicinal chemist at Enanta Pharmaceuticals, he began graduate studies at The Scripps Research Institute under the guidance of Professor K. C. Nicolaou, where he worked on the total synthesis, stereochemical assignment, and biological evaluation of uncialamycin. After receiving his Ph.D. in 2008, he coauthored Classics in Total Synthesis III with Professor Nicolaou. He will join the faculty in August 2011 as an Assistant Professor.
