David Hoffman

David K. Hoffman, professor, received his B.S. from the University of Illinois in 1960 and his Ph.D. in theoretical chemistry from the University of Wisconsin in 1964. After completing postdoctoral appointments in the Department of Mathematical Physics at the University of Adelaide, South Australia, and the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Minnesota, he joined the Iowa State University chemistry faculty in 1967. He returned to Adelaide in 1971 for a year as a senior research fellow. During the 1979-1980 academic year he was a program officer in the Structural Chemistry and Thermodynamics Program, Chemistry Division, National Science Foundation.
